Review an existing island before replacing its finish
Photograph the full enclosure, cracked or loose finishes, corners, countertop edges, and the surface near the cooking area. Removing a decorative layer may expose damaged or unsuitable construction. New tile should not be treated as a repair for an enclosure that needs other work.
If appliances will stay, explain how they will be protected and who will handle any removal or reconnection. The estimate should distinguish old finish removal, preparation, and new installation from enclosure rebuilding or equipment changes.
Keep vents, clearances, and service panels usable
Provide the appliance model and available installation instructions, not just the size of the visible opening. Required clearances, ventilation, access doors, and panel removal need to remain consistent with the equipment and enclosure requirements. Decorative stone must not obstruct them.
Added finish thickness affects opening dimensions, doors, hinges, and removable parts. Review those connections before cuts are made. Gas, electrical, plumbing, and appliance installation or servicing are separate responsibilities that need explicit coordination.
Coordinate tile, stone, counter edges, and nearby paving
Bring product details for each finish. Different materials can have different thickness, attachment requirements, and exterior suitability. Decide how stone faces meet tile, counter edges, exposed corners, adjoining walls, and the patio before approving a layout.
Send enclosure dimensions, wide photos, opening measurements, appliance information, finish selections, and any construction still planned. Our surrounding tile work is distinct from marble slab countertop installation, which we do not offer. Confirm responsibility for any separately supplied countertop before scheduling the finish work.
